LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A 16-year-old Sorrento boy died and four other children were injured Thursday night in a single-vehicle crash in Lake County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal wreck happened around 10:20 p.m. on County Road 437 near Plymouth Hollow Circle, troopers said.

The Sorrento boy, who was driving, lost control of an SUV that was carrying four passengers ranging from 11-16 years old, troopers said. The SUV struck a light pole on the north shoulder of Plymouth Hollow Circle, according to an FHP crash report.
The vehicle continued moving after the collision, running over hedges before colliding with a tree and coming to rest, troopers said.
The boy was taken to an Apopka-area hospital where he later died, the FHP said. The passengers were taken to a different hospital with minor injuries, according to the release.
According to a spokesperson for Lake County schools, the 16-year-old was a student at Mount Dora High School.
Troopers said the fatal crash is under investigation.
No other details were released.
