The FHP said the man was driving a Chevrolet Suburban east on I-4 and failed to notice that traffic had stopped ahead of him. The SUV slammed into the back of the tractor-trailer, and the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.
The big rig driver, a 38-year-old Apopka man, was not injured, according to troopers.
An FHP crash report states that both drivers were wearing seat belts.
All eastbound lanes of I-4 were closed at Lake Mary Boulevard for about four hours.
No other details have been released.
