1 dead following Sunrail train crash in Kissimmee, police say

Sunrail delays and road closure announced following crash as police investigate

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A Sunrail train crash involving a vehicle in Kissimmee left one person dead and sparked delays for the rail service, according to the Kissimmee Police Department.

The crash happened off East Vine Street, and Michigan Avenue was closed on the westbound side from U.S. Highway 192 to the railroad tracks, police said. The roadway has since been reopened, officials said on Wednesday.

According to officers, one person succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The crash happened off East Vine Street, and Michigan Avenue was closed on the westbound side from U.S. Highway 192 to the railroad tracks, police said. The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours, police added. (Copyright 2022 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.)

Two SunRail trains were delayed in Osceola County due to the police activity near the tracks, according to a tweet issued Tuesday night.

According to train officials, a bus bridge is being implemented between the Kissimmee and Tupperware stations.

As of around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, SunRail officials said they expected the P336 NB and P335 SB trains to be delayed for three hours.

The crash remains an active investigation at this time.
