Motorcyclist dies in crash on John Young Parkway in Orange County, FHP says

Orlando man, 31, died at hospital, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orlando motorcyclist died after an Orange County crash Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the wreck occurred around 6:25 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of S. John Young Parkway and W. Oak Ridge Road.

A 61-year-old man driving a pickup truck was stopped in the northbound U-turn lane of John Young Parkway at the same time a 31-year-old man driving a motorcycle traveled south along the inside lane of that same road, a crash report shows.

According to the report, the Orlando pickup driver began to make a U-turn to travel south on John Young Parkway when he entered into the direct path of the motorcyclist, striking him. The pickup truck ran off the road and struck a bus stop sign, FHP said.

The pickup truck driver was uninjured and remained on scene, according to troopers. Investigators said the motorcyclist was transported to the hospital, where he died.

This crash remains under investigation.
