Sorrento man dead after motorcycle crash in Seminole County, troopers say

Crash occurred on Markham Woods Road near E.E. Williamson Road

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A single-vehicle crash early Thursday near Longwood left a Sorrento man dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 1:40 a.m. on Markham Woods Road about a mile south of E.E. Williamson Road, troopers said.

According to a crash report, the 51-year-old man was driving a motorcycle north when troopers believe he failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle struck a raised curb. The motorcycle ran off of the roadway as a result, causing the man to be thrown from it, troopers said.

The man was wearing a helmet in the crash, troopers said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the report states.

The fatal crash is still being investigated, troopers said.

No other information was shared by the FHP.
