I-4 reopens in Hillsborough County after police chase, FHP says

Interstate was shut down after law enforcement activity out of Polk County

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Interstate 4 in Hillsborough County reopened Sunday afternoon after law enforcement activity out of Polk County shut down the interstate, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

A tweet posted by FHP Tampa at 10:24 a.m. stated the center and outside lanes of I-4 were closed west of North Forbes Road, as well as the westbound entrance ramp of Exit 17, as the westbound inside lane remained open.

The law enforcement activity originated out of Polk County, FHP said.

According to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, a 30-year-old man led deputies on a chase onto I-4, forcing the closure of part of the interstate.
