The woman, the 4-month-old, a 1-year-old girl and the woman’s adult sister — all from Miami — were heading east along State Road 60 in a black Nissan Altima, troopers said.
Meanwhile, a red Mazda SUV was driving west along the road, and when the Altima passed into the westbound lane to pass another vehicle, it struck the Mazda head-on, troopers said.
In a crash report, troopers stated that the Altima then went off the roadway and overturned, and the Mazda came to a final rest nearby.
A green Toyota Tacoma and a sedan struck debris as a result of the crash, though the inhabitants of the two vehicles did not suffer any injuries, the report shows.
The 22-year-old driver of the Altima and the 4-month-old passenger were declared dead at the scene, troopers said. The crash report says the 1-year-old and the adult passenger were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
According to FHP, the 4-month-old girl was the adult passenger’s daughter, and the 1-year-old was the driver’s daughter.
The driver of the Mazda was also taken to the hospital in critical condition, though the passenger in the Mazda — despite being seriously injured — is in stable condition, troopers said.
The roadway was closed as the crash was investigated. The crash remains under investigation.
No other information is available at this time.
