Man dies in crash with tree, light pole in Orange County, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A driver died Thursday morning in a crash with a tree and light pole in Orange County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred around 6 a.m. when an SUV traveling south on Clarcona Ocoee Road approaching Old Apopka Road attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone.

According to a crash report, the driver, a 33-year-old Apopka man, entered the northbound lane, lost control and struck a curb. He then overcorrected and ran off the road, striking a tree and a light pole before flipping over, the report shows.

FHP said the driver was taken to AdventHealth Apopka, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation is ongoing.
