ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A pedestrian died after being struck by a car Saturday evening not far from Holden Heights, according to Orange County Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 7:32 p.m. on S. Rio Grande Avenue near 24th Street, officials said.

According to an FHP crash report, the pedestrian — identified as a 40-year-old Orlando man — was struck while he crossed S. Rio Grande Avenue on foot in an easterly direction and entered the direct path of a Chevrolet Camaro in the northbound inside travel lane.

The man was taken to ORMC where he was later pronounced dead, according to troopers and fire rescue officials.
The Camaro and its driver remained at the scene, troopers said.
