ORLANDO, Fla. – A short stretch of West Colonial Drive near Lake Dot was blocked off Saturday morning as an incident was investigated at the Howard Vernon Motel, according to the Orlando Police Department.

In a tweet, police stated the roadway was blocked in both directions between Hughey and Parramore avenues after an incident occurred in the 600 block of West Colonial Drive. In a follow-up at 7:38 a.m., police announced the roadway had been reopened, adding the incident was resolved.

Officers responded at 4:50 a.m. to a domestic disturbance at the motel in which the 911 caller stated a suspect was armed and was threatening her with a gun, prompting the decision to close West Colonial Drive in the area, police said. The suspect did not flash a weapon and was detained without further trouble after initially refusing to surrender, according to the department. Officers were able to get the victim out of the apartment prior to the suspect’s arrest, a statement reads.
