Deputy who clocked teen going 132 mph on I-4 joins Trooper Steve On Patrol

Orange County sheriff’s Corporal Gregg Rittger rides along in Results-1

ORLANDO, Fla. – As someone who has done the job, I can tell you at no point in time does a law enforcement officer want to go viral for any reason.

In a time that everyone has a camera on them, anything you do has a good chance of being recorded.

But this technology also plays to the advantage of modern-day policing. Law enforcement agencies everywhere have truly accepted technology into their daily practice, which leads us to Thursday’s Trooper Steve On Patrol.

We talked to Orange County sheriff’s Corporal Gregg Rittger, who has a passion for traffic safety and is part of the Orange County Motorcycle Unit.

His recent body-cam video during a traffic stop that he conducted on I-4 went viral. He stopped a young driver at speeds in excess of 130 mph in a 60 mph zone.

During the stop, Rittger made contact with the driver’s parents and had them respond to the scene. (Watch video below.)

Rittger and I discuss the dangers of speeding and what can be done to get people to drive more carefully.
