Trooper Steve said he likes this question because people often wonder, “How does this stuff even get enforced?”

He said the size of police agencies is one factor when it comes to enforcement.

“Yes, you can receive a ticket if law enforcement is proactively looking at these parking spaces,” Trooper Steve said. “But police cannot be everywhere all the time.”

Trooper Steve said he understands the frustration from others when they see a violation go unpunished.

“I encourage businesses that do have disabled parking spaces to keep an eye on that,” he said. “When one driver does it, another one will follow, but when law enforcement starts ticketing violators, people will learn.”
