ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Neighbors living on an Orange County road are concerned people are potentially trying to use their street as a way to skip a major intersection, only to realize they’ve made a mistake.
Riddle Drive is located off of Wymore Road. The next stoplight south is the Fairbanks Avenue intersection. While Fairbanks does swerve close to the end of Riddle Drive, the two roads don’t connect.
Morgan Dickson has lived on Riddle Drive for about 20 years. She said the increased traffic makes her nervous when her kids play outside.
“We have a lot of kids on the street, my kids play by the street conveniently it’s a dead end so that’s kind of why you buy it, because you can kind of play and not worry about a bunch of cars driving through but yeah — it’s a lot, probably every day,” Dickson said.

While News 6 was speaking to neighbors our crews noticed three cars turn down Riddle Drive, then turn around. While we don’t know why all of the cars turned around, we did stop one driver and she said she thought she could get through to Fairbanks.
Dickson said at one point neighbors tried their own methods to discourage people from using their street as a shortcut.
“For a while, the gal at the end of the street put cones at the end of the street so that they couldn’t turn around in her driveway all the time,” Dickson said.
Newer neighbors on Riddle Drive like Preston Klemm have also taken notice.
“They come down with a lot of earnest, they don’t make eye contact, they get to the end and then a few minutes later — a few seconds later — you see them drive down,” Klemm said.
Klemm and Dickson said they have a couple of improvements in mind, like better landscaping at the end of the street or more signage at the Wymore Road and Riddle Drive intersection.
“It’d be great on the other side if they did maybe more landscaping so it doesn’t look like a through-street,” Klemm said.
“Definitely different signage. When they built the four-way stop, a bunch of us kind of talked to the people building it and said the signage is not clear,” Dickson said,
We reached out to Orange County to ask them if they have received complaints about Riddle Drive and if they would consider putting in additional signage. We are waiting to hear back.
