According to a preliminary FHP crash report, a 51-year-old Dade City man traveling east was using the westbound lane to pass eastbound traffic. While returning to the eastbound lane, he lost control of his vehicle, rotating back into the path of the Lacoochee man’s westbound pickup truck, the report states.

The vehicles collided nearly head-on, troopers said. The impact sent the pickup truck into the shoulder, overturning multiple times, according to the report.

The Dade City man’s vehicle continued forward, colliding nearly head-on with another vehicle that was traveling westbound. This third vehicle was described as an SUV with three occupants — a 45-year-old man driving, a 43-year-old woman passenger and a 25-year-old woman passenger, all of Mascotte — who suffered no injuries in the crash, troopers said.

The Lacoochee man suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash while the Dade City man was not injured, according to FHP.
