Motorcyclist killed in 3-vehicle crash in Marion County

Crash happened at the intersection of U.S. Highway 41, SW 54th

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 40-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Marion County on Saturday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the fatal crash happened at the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and SW 54th Street around 7:15 p.m.

According to a crash report, an SUV being driven by a 58-year-old Dunnellon woman, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 41, approaching the intersection of SW 54th Street.

At the same time, a motorcycle being driven by a Dunnellon man, was traveling south on U.S. Highway 41.

Troopers said the SUV attempted to turn left onto SW 54th Street and traveled into the direct path of the motorcyclist, causing the motorcycle to crash into the right side of the SUV.

According to a crash report, a third vehicle – an SUV – then crashed into the motorcycle as it came to rest.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue.
