1 killed, 1 seriously injured in Osceola County crash

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – One man was killed and another was seriously injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 5:15 a.m. at South Orange Blossom Trail and Ham Brown Road near Kissimmee.

According to an FHP crash report, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata tried to make a left turn from South Orange Blossom Trail to Ham Brown Road and hit the front of an oncoming 2006 Honda Civic. The crash caused the Honda to drive off the road and hit a concrete pole, the FHP said.

The Hyundai driver, only identified as a man, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to troopers.

The Honda driver, a 33-year-old Brandon man, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, the FHP said.

The intersection was blocked, but the roads were reopened about six hours after the fatal wreck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

An investigation is ongoing.
