PALM BAY, Fla. – Surveillance video caught the moment a pickup truck slammed into a motorcycle rider in Palm Bay before backing over the bike and driving off.
Police said the crash happened at the intersection of Eldron Boulevard Southeast and Collings Street Southeast on Jan. 28.

The surveillance video from a nearby home shows the rider on Collings Street waiting at the intersection to make a turn when the white Ford pickup turns into the bike, forcing the motorcycle and the rider onto the lawn of a home.
The video then shows the truck back up over the bike and take off back down Eldron Boulevard. The rider is seen attempting to walk before collapsing as witnesses stop to help.
The victim was taken to the hospital, but investigators did not give information on the extent of his injuries.
Investigators said witnesses were not able to describe who was driving the truck at the time of the crash. Police said they were able to track down a truck matching the description of the pickup, which had some front-end damage. Three men living in the home where the truck was found were questioned about the crash, according to an incident report. The men told investigators that the owner of the truck was not home and had gone to Alabama, the report stated.
Police said all three men admitted to using the truck that day, but did not know anything about a crash.
Officers were told a pickup matching the description of the one in the wreck was seen leaving a nearby gas station before the hit-and-run. Investigators said that surveillance video from the gas station did show the truck pulling up with three men exiting the pickup. However, when they returned, investigators said the men changed seating positions and they could not be sure who was in the driver’s seat when the truck left.
Police said they were unable to pursue charges because it was not apparent who was behind the wheel during the hit-and-run.
