OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A 48-year-old Kissimmee man has died after he was hospitalized in critical condition last month from a hit-and-run crash in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. Feb. 12 on Poinciana Boulevard near State Road 535 (Vineland Road), troopers said.

According to a statement from FHP, the man was riding a bicycle when he was struck by what was possibly a silver 2011 Hyundai Elantra. He was pronounced dead on Feb. 23, the statement reads.

Describing the crash, troopers said the suspect vehicle was traveling east on Poinciana Boulevard — approaching S.R. 535 in the outside lane — as the man rode a bicycle east on the outside paved shoulder in the same area and direction. The driver of the suspect vehicle failed to maintain their lane and drifted toward the outside shoulder, struck the man and left the scene, according to the statement.

Troopers are now seeking help from the public in locating the suspect vehicle, which would reportedly have damage to its front right area. Any mechanics or auto body shops that may have recently repaired a silver 2011 Hyundai Elantra bearing front-right damage were encouraged to contact FHP, troopers said.

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to reach out to FHP by calling 407-737-2213, or Crimeline at 800-423-8477 to remain anonymous.

FHP is still investigating.
