Ocala man, 27, dies after hit-and-run crash, troopers say

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 27-year-old Ocala man died after being struck Tuesday night in a hit-and-run crash while riding a bicycle toward Davenport, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Davenport Boulevard, east of U.S. 27, troopers said.

According to a preliminary FHP statement, a black Dodge Challenger traveling east on Davenport Boulevard overtook and struck the bicyclist before being driven away from the scene.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries, the statement reads.

Anyone with information about the crash was urged to call *FHP (*347) or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
