Florida man driving 108 mph on I-95 was in hurry to see girlfriend, deputies say

COCOA, Fla. – A 27-year-old Florida man was arrested Saturday evening on allegations of driving 108 mph on Interstate 95 in Brevard County because he was in a hurry to see his girlfriend, an affidavit states.

Axel Sobrevilla, of North Lauderdale, was arrested on charges of reckless driving.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Brevard County sheriff’s deputies were contacted by a caller who said a red Toyota Camry was heading north on I-95, weaving through traffic and driving in the emergency lane.

Deputies located the vehicle near the West King Street overpass in Cocoa and clocked the car at 108 mph, the affidavit stated.

The car was pulled over, and Sobrevilla said he was in a hurry because he was traveling to see his girlfriend in North Carolina, officials said.

Sobrevilla was arrested and taken to the Brevard County jail.
