Police escorts happen in our area quite often, with most taking place in the evening hours, Trooper Steve said.

“The majority of these police-guided escorts are for construction, usually oversized loads or equipment that need multiple lanes shut down in order to get them from point A to point B,” he said.

You can’t get a police escort for any reason.

“The requests go through a review process in order to be approved by the agency,” Trooper Steve said. “Although visually familiar to the common community member, even funeral escorts are not conducted by every agency. “

So when you see a police escort, know that it went through an approval process.
