Crash in Ocoee kills 2, police say

OCOEE, Fla. – A woman and a man were killed early Saturday in a single-vehicle crash in Ocoee, police said.

The crash occurred on Ocoee Apopka Road near Paradise Heights, prompting a road closure that has since been lifted.

According to the Ocoee Police Department, the driver, 22-year-old Alexis Craig of Apopka, and passenger, 30-year-old Andre Johnson of Orlando, were heading northbound on Ocoee Apopka Road in a silver Toyota Camry when it left the roadway and slammed into a tree and a brick wall, leaving much of the vehicle in pieces.

When Ocoee police arrived, they found the vehicle engulfed in flames. Initial attempts to extinguish the fire were unsuccessful until Ocoee firefighters arrived to help put out the flames.

Police said the two occupants were pronounced dead inside the vehicle.
