SANFORD, Fla. – A 22-year-old Winter Park man was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday morning that forced the closure of Rinehart Road in Sanford, officials said.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded around 7:45 a.m. to the area of Rinehart Road and Plantation Lakes Circle.
According to an FHP crash report, a motorcycle was traveling north on Rinehart Road — west of Plantation Lakes Circle — when the man failed to negotiate a curve and was thrown from the bike as it left the roadway, the report states.
The rider was taken to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital where he was pronounced dead, troopers said, adding that he was wearing a helmet.
Rinehart Road was closed from County Road 46A to Towne Center Boulevard, but the roadway was reopened hours later.
The FHP is investigating the crash.
