ORLANDO, Fla. – Today for Trooper Steve on Patrol, we attended the Orlando Police Department’s inaugural 9/11 law enforcement remembrance ceremony.
Orlando police Chief Eric Smith joined Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Orlando Fire Department Chief Charlie Salazar, city commissioners and others to reflect on the 2,977 lives lost in the terror attacks, which included 72 members of law enforcement and hundreds of other first responders, according to a news release from the city.
“We hope today’s ceremony will serve as a reminder, to all, about the dangers law enforcement face. Thank you for your continued support of OPD and, rest assured, our officers remain ready to respond to all threats, to protect this community,” Smith said in a statement.
