Man killed in 2-vehicle crash in Marion County, troopers say

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A two-vehicle crash in Marion County early Saturday resulted in the death of a 64-year-old Fort McCoy man, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. on NE 160th Avenue Road, about half a mile south of NE 180th Street, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the Fort McCoy man was operating a sedan. The other vehicle involved in the crash was described as a pickup truck carrying two occupants — a 58-year-old Lutz man driving and an 82-year-old Tampa man riding as a passenger — who were not injured in the crash, the report states.

NE 160th Avenue Road was closed as FHP investigated the crash, reopening around 10:09 a.m.

FHP is still investigating.
