MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 37-year-old Ocala man riding a motorcycle through Marion County died Thursday after crashing into an SUV, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:44 p.m. at the intersection of SW 103rd Street Road and SW 62nd Avenue Road, a four-way stop, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the motorcyclist was traveling east on SW 103rd Street Road, approaching the intersection, as an SUV driven by a 59-year-old Ocala man was approaching the same intersection southbound on SW 62nd Avenue Road.

The SUV’s driver came to a stop at the intersection, then proceeded through it as the motorcyclist failed to stop, causing the front of the motorcycle to strike the right side of the SUV, the report states.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead, FHP said. Troopers believe he was not wearing a helmet.

The man driving the SUV suffered minor injuries in the crash, the report states.
