Motorcyclist killed after losing control, crashing into mailbox in Lake County, troopers say

Crash happened at SR-44 and Bottany Woods Drive

EUSTIS, Fla. – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday evening after losing control and crashing into a mailbox, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened at State Road 44 and Bottany Woods Drive around 5:03 p.m.

According to a crash report – a Harley Davidson FXLRS being driven by a 57-year-old Sanford man – was traveling south on State Road 44, north of Bottany Woods Drive.

The motorcycle driver failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road to the right before crashing into a concrete mailbox, troopers said.

Troopers said the crash caused the man to be thrown from the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was taken to AdventHealth DeLand where he was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
