ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 66-year-old Orlando woman died after her SUV was struck by another which ran a stop sign Friday night near Lockhart, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:26 p.m. at the intersection of Apopka Boulevard and Overland Road, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the woman was traveling south on Overland Road as the other SUV — occupied by a 29-year-old Orlando man driving with two passengers, a 26-year-old Apopka man and a 13-year-old Orlando boy — traveled west on Apopka Boulevard, both approaching the intersection.

The Orlando man failed to stop at the stop sign, the report states. As a result, the front of the westbound SUV struck the left side of the woman’s SUV, troopers said.

The woman was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead, according to FHP. Neither the driver nor passengers of the other SUV were injured in the crash, the report states, adding it was unknown whether anyone involved in the wreck was wearing a seat belt.

The FHP is still investigating.
