According to an FHP report, a 61-year-old Orlando man was driving a 2019 semi-truck with a trailer east on S.R. 528 and exited onto S.R. 520. The semi stopped at the stop sign and then proceeded into the crossover-paved median in an attempt to turn left at which point the trailer was blocking the eastbound S.R. 520 travel lanes, troopers said.

Troopers said the 24-year-old driver was traveling east in a 2023 Toyota Corolla on S.R. 520 passing under the overpass of S.R. 528 in the outside lane when they failed to see the trailer and the front of the Corolla collided with the rear left side of the big rig’s trailer, troopers said.

The woman was taken to Orlando Health Randal Park, where she was pronounced dead, the FHP said.

The big rig driver was not hurt and remained at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
