Florida Turnpike lanes reopen in Lake County after multi-vehicle crash

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A multi-vehicle crash temporarily closed the northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike closed in Lake County on Monday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 5:23 p.m. in the northbound lanes near mile marker 275.

According to a preliminary report, the crash involves a truck hauling fertilizer that failed to stop for a semi that was slowing ahead.

Troopers said that as a result, the front of the truck struck the back of the semi, which caused a chain reaction crash with four other vehicles.

One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the FHP.

Troopers said the roadblock was cleared as of 7:40 p.m.

Traffic is currently being diverted off at Colonial Drive, according to the FHP.

The crash remains under investigation.
