Semitruck crashes into tree, catches fire along I-95 in Brevard County

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A semitruck Tuesday morning lost control on Interstate 95 in Brevard County, striking a tree off the road and catching fire, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened around 6:50 a.m. in the southbound lanes near mile marker 202 in Cocoa.

According to troopers, the driver, a 56-year-old Georgia man, was traveling in the outside lane when the semitruck went off the road and hit the tree.

The man and his passenger, a 46-year-old man, were both able to escape the vehicle. The two were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The center and outside southbound lanes were closed but later reopened.

An investigation is ongoing.
