1 injured after crash on SR-429 in Orange County; driver flees scene, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A crash on the southbound lanes of State Road 429 in Orange County on Tuesday morning left one person injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers are looking to identify one of the vehicles in the crash that fled the scene. The crash happened at mile marker 16 in Winter Garden.

Both vehicles involved in the crash were traveling southbound on SR-429 on the inside lane with a 2019 Kia UT in front of the unknown vehicle.

The unknown vehicle changed lanes to the outside lane, then made an abrupt change to the inside lane directly in front of the Kia, troopers said.

The unidentified vehicle struck the Kia on the front right, causing the Kia to hit the guardrail, run off the roadway and overturn. The unknown vehicle fled the scene on SR-429 southbound.

The driver in the Kia was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers say the unknown could possibly be a dark-colored vehicle. There is no roadblock in the area.

The crash remains under investigation.
