MELBOURNE, Fla. – A 79-year-old Melbourne man was killed Tuesday morning after his vehicle was found in a retention pond, according to the Melbourne Police Department.
The crash happened around 5:52 a.m. on Stack Boulevard near Lake Waterford Way.

Initial investigation found the man was driving a 2025 Chevrolet SUV, traveling south on Stack Boulevard when the vehicle left the roadway.
The SUV drove through some shrubbery and went into the retention pond, police said.
The crash is still under investigation and at this time, it does not appear alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, MPD said.
The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
