OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A 24-year-old St. Cloud man was killed and three others were seriously injured Thursday morning in a five-vehicle crash at an intersection in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. at Deer Park and Nova roads, troopers said.
According to the FHP, a 2023 Kia Sportage driven by a 24-year-old Kissimmee man was southbound on Nova Road and swerved to avoid a vehicle that was stopped ahead.
The Kia then struck a 1998 Honda Accord, driven by the St. Cloud man, that was northbound on Nova Road, according to troopers, who said the St. Cloud man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Kia then collided with a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta, which was also rear-ended by a 2021 Toyota Camry that was unable to stop in time, the FHP said.
The driver of a 2021 Hyundai Sonata, which was traveling north on Nova Road, was unable to avoid the other vehicles and crashed into the Kia, according to troopers.
The drivers of the Kia, the Volkswagen and the Hyundai suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospitals, according to an FHP crash report.
The driver of the Toyota was not injured.
Roads were blocked in the area after the crash but were later cleared.
