70-year-old man killed, woman seriously injured in motorcycle crash on US-1 in Brevard County

Crash happened near Harbor Oak Lane

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A 70-year-old Jacksonville man was killed and a woman was seriously injured Thursday evening when their motorcycle was struck on US-1 in Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 6:31 p.m. south of Harbor Oak Lane in Titusville.

Troopers said a truck was stopped at a stop sign near the Manatee Hammock Campground and as the truck tried to make a left turn, it entered into the path of an oncoming motorcycle.

As a result, the left side of the truck struck the motorcycle, a release said.

Investigators said the motorcycle driver, the 70-year-old man, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The woman on the motorcycle, a 27-year-old from Summerfield, was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries, though she is in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the truck driver was uninjured and remained at the scene, troopers stated.

There was roadblock after the wreck that has since been cleared.

An investigation is ongoing.
