BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A 76-year-old man from Cocoa was killed Saturday upon crashing into a car parked in a Brevard County driveway, as well as a house, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 10:50 p.m. along Fay Boulevard, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the man was driving a van westbound on Fay Boulevard, approaching Deer Lane, when he veered off the road for an unknown reason and struck a mailbox, then a speed limit sign. Now traveling in a southwesterly direction, the van struck another mailbox and veered to the right before hitting a lattice fence, a 2007 Chevy Impala parked in a driveway and a house, the report states.

The van came to final rest in the driveway, troopers said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP. Troopers believe he was not wearing a seat belt during the crash.

Two people who were in the home at the time of the crash were not injured, troopers said, adding the collision caused the garage door to hit two other parked vehicles.

FHP is still investigating.
