The incident happened on Edgewater Drive near Hambleton Avenue when a 2005 Ford Expedition was heading north in the outside lane and ran off the roadway, according to a crash report, hitting a pole and rotating multiple times.
The report states that the SUV also struck a building, another vehicle and a pedestrian on the sidewalk — identified as 19-year-old Latrell Anderson, troopers said.
Surveillance video obtained by News 6 showed the SUV slamming into the Henao Contemporary Center, which appeared to be hosting an event at the time.
Another pedestrian in the building was struck by debris and taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Lima and two passengers had run away from the scene after the crash.
Lima was later arrested the same day on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death, leaving the scene of a crash involving injuries and driving without a license causing death.
News 6 had spoken with Anderson’s best friend shortly after the crash. She said Anderson was a Valencia College student and an aspiring nurse.
“He thought of helping people more than himself,” Sanae Knowles said.
