ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 19-year-old Pennsylvania man riding a motorcycle in Orange County died after crashing into a turning SUV on Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 6:49 p.m. at the intersection of Dean Road and Bloomfield Drive, troopers said.
According to an FHP crash report, the Pennsylvania man was riding north on Dean Road while a 32-year-old Orlando man drove an SUV southbound on Dean Road, both of them approaching Bloomfield Drive.
The Orlando man attempted to make a left turn in the direct path of the motorcycle, causing the front of the bike to strike the right rear of the SUV, the report states.
The motorcyclist was thrown from his vehicle, according to FHP. Troopers believe he was not wearing a helmet during the crash.
The Pennsylvania man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, troopers said. The Orlando man was not injured and remained at the scene, according to the report.
FHP is still investigating.
