ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 23-year-old woman faces multiple charges after driving away from an attempted traffic stop before speeding to 140 mph on State Road 417 in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said that on Sunday around 12:28 a.m. they received a radio call from Orlando police about a vehicle that failed to pull over for them. The vehicle was last seen traveling north on Orange Avenue from Town Center Boulevard.

Troopers said they saw a white, two-door vehicle driving without headlights turning right onto Wetherbee Road, heading east.

According to the affidavit, troopers attempted to make another traffic stop with lights activated, “the suspect’s vehicle failed to pull over and continued fleeing.”

Troopers noted that as the vehicle turned right onto Landstar Boulevard, they were able to read the tag number, which was not assigned to a vehicle. The vehicle sped away at more than 80 mph in a 40 mph zone, driving erratically and at one point, driving south in the northbound lane of Landstar Boulevard.

The suspect then made a left turn to drive onto S.R. 417 where troopers attempted an unsuccessful PIT maneuver. According to the affidavit, the vehicle continued north on the highway where it reached speeds of 140 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Troopers said the suspect then crashed the vehicle near mile marker 18 where they identified the driver as Natasha Herman, the only person inside of the vehicle.

Herman declined to answer any questions about the incident, according to the affidavit.

In addition to the tag not being assigned to a vehicle, the VIN revealed that the vehicle had not been registered since 2021 and did not have insurance.

Troopers said Herman has a prior charge for fleeing or attempting to elude in Volusia County in 2021.

In this incident, she faces charges of reckless driving, fleeing and eluding at high speed, not having vehicle registration, and not having insurance.

After being medically cleared, Herman was taken to the Orange County jail.
