Florida woman struck, killed on highway after getting out of car to help dog, troopers say

TAMPA, Fla. – A 25-year-old Florida woman was struck and killed Thursday night on a highway after she got out of her car to check on a dog, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 10:25 p.m. on Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa.

According to troopers, the woman had stopped her Kia Optima to help a dog.

A Toyota RAV4 struck the woman and dog, according to the FHP, killing the two.

No other information was released.
