LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A 54-year-old Sorrento man walking in a Lake County road was struck by a pickup truck early Saturday and later died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 12:50 a.m. on Plymouth Sorrento Road, north of Adair Avenue, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the man was walking south in the southbound travel lane of Plymouth Sorrento Road when he was struck by the right side of a 2017 Toyota Tacoma which he had entered the direct path of.

The driver of the Tacoma — a 38-year-old Apopka woman — was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene, the report states.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, troopers said.

FHP is still investigating.
