Does Florida really need to go faster? Trooper Steve on Patrol hits the highway

Trooper Steve on Patrol hits the road

ORLANDO, Fla. – Buckle up, Florida! There’s talk in the state Senate about cranking up the speed limits on some of our major highways, particularly those already maxed out at 70 mph.

If you’ve ever felt like traffic is moving at lightning speed — or maybe dragging slower than a Sunday driver in the left lane — this conversation is for you.

Recently, we saw a speed limit increase along SR-408 and now, lawmakers are considering whether more roads should follow suit. But the big question remains: Do we actually need to go faster?

That’s exactly what we’re going to find out in today’s stream.

We’re taking Results-1 out for a speed observation drive to see what’s really happening on Florida’s highways. Are drivers already exceeding the limit? Are they keeping up with traffic flow? And most importantly, would a higher speed limit make things smoother or just more chaotic?

Join me at 10 a.m. as we hit the road, take a look at real-world driving habits and break down what this could mean for safety, enforcement and that never-ending highway frustration.

Let’s find out together —do we really need the extra mph, or are we already pushing the limit? Catch the stream and let’s talk traffic!
