TITUSVILLE, Fla. – A driver faces a charge of DUI manslaughter after his pickup truck fatally struck a man crossing the street in Titusville, according to police.
The crash occurred around 2:50 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Columbia Boulevard and Windover Trail as the pedestrian walked north in a crosswalk while returning to his job at Walmart, the Titusville Police Department said in a news release.
The pickup truck was driven by Dallas Scott Weed, 28, who was traveling westbound on Columbia Boulevard when the crash happened, the release states.
The man who was struck was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead around 4 p.m., police said.
Weed remained at the scene, where he allegedly showed signs of intoxication and was arrested, according to the release.
Weed’s traffic citation indicates he refused to submit to a breath or blood test. He’s being held in the Brevard County Jail on $15,000 bond, the release states.
Titusville police are still investigating.
