OVIEDO, Fla. – You’ve seen us hit the road over the past year, traveling to different cities with one mission: covering your community the way you want it covered.

This week, our spotlight is on Oviedo, a city known for its small-town charm, bustling growth, and — of course — its famous roaming chickens!... or lack thereof.

But beyond the quaint streets and local legends, Oviedo is a city that thrives on safety, and who better to talk about that than the man leading the charge? I’ll be riding with Chief Dale Coleman of the Oviedo Police Department to get an inside look at what it takes to keep this vibrant community safe.

If you don’t know Coleman yet, you’re about to. As the top cop of Oviedo, he’s responsible for leading the officers who protect the city’s nearly 40,000 residents.

We’ll dive into his background, what drew him to law enforcement, and what it’s like to police a city that’s constantly growing while maintaining its unique character.

Some of the topics covered include:

  • The biggest challenges and successes in policing Oviedo
  • How the department stays connected with the community
  • What you should know about crime trends and safety in the area

Plus, I’ll be asking the chief some fun, rapid-fire questions — because let’s be honest, we all want to know if he has a favorite Oviedo chicken or if he’s ever had a run-in with one on duty!

This series is all about you and what matters most to your town. If there’s something you’ve always wanted to ask the chief, now’s your chance! Drop your questions in the comments over on YouTube, and I’ll bring them to him during our conversation.

So, whether you’ve lived in Oviedo your whole life or just moved in, this is your chance to see your community in a whole new light. Stay tuned for our ride with Coleman — it’s going to be a good one!
