KISSIMMEE, Fla. – One man was killed and a woman was injured in a crash early Friday in an I-4 construction zone in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash happened around 1 a.m. on I-4 west near State Road 429 near ChampionsGate.

According to a crash report, a 2021 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 53-year-old Davenport woman was heading west on I-4 and attempted to switch lanes, hitting the back of a 2005 Toyota Scion XB.

The crash caused the Jeep to rotate and hit the guardrail and the Toyota to hit the back of a construction truck parked on the shoulder, troopers said.

The Davenport woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The Toyota driver, a 41-year-old Lakeland man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the construction truck, a 33-year-old St. Cloud man, was uninjured.

An investigation is ongoing.
