ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A crash early Sunday killed a man, left three other people with serious injuries and forced the closure of all eastbound lanes on State Road 408 in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash occurred around 3:15 a.m. on eastbound S.R. 408 in the area of North Alafaya Trail, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, a 2019 Dodge Durango and a 2007 Ford Expedition with a tow dolly were stopped in the center lane of S.R. 408 due to a previous crash between them. The drivers of both vehicles, as well as the two passengers who were in the Expedition, had all exited their vehicles and were standing in the roadway between the two SUVs when the next crash occurred, the report states.

A 22-year-old Saint Johns woman driving a 2015 Ford Edge failed to observe the crash ahead and struck the rear of the Durango, troopers said. The Dodge was propelled forward, striking all four of the people in the road, according to the report.

The driver of the Dodge, identified as Terry Morgan, 35, of Orlando, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, troopers said.

The three others who were struck — a 20-year-old Orlando man who had been driving the Expedition with a 21-year-old woman and a 9-month-old girl riding as passengers, all of Orlando — suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized, according to FHP.

The Saint Johns woman was not injured in the crash, according to the report.

Eastbound S.R. 408 was later reopened.
