‘Grinches’ steal Christmas decorations from 7 Titusville homes

Police release video, seek help identifying suspected thieves

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Titusville police are searching for “Grinches” who stole Christmas decorations from at least seven homes.

Police on Wednesday tweeted video of one of the thefts, which shows a person wearing some sort of head covering stealing a snowman decoration from the front of a house.

“Do you recognize these Christmas “Grinches”? These individuals are suspected of stealing Holiday Decorations from at least 7 homes in South Titusville neighborhoods,” police tweeted.

Lisa Sign said her family was one of the victims.

‘’It’s supposed to be holiday spirit, lights and everything, and coming to peoples’ houses in the middle of the night to steal that away is just not right,’’ she said.

Sign said her 11-year-old daughter was heartbroken when the family woke Saturday morning to learn their decorations were stolen.

‘’We work hard for everything that we have and Christmas is special to us,’’ Sign said.

Police said all the burglaries happened late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

‘’They stole an inflatable and 200 feet of lights off of a fence here in our neighborhood,’’ Joe Turnbach said.

The neighbor said that to show families will not be intimidated, the lights were replaced.

Police said they have not caught anyone yet.

‘’I hope that they do see this and if you do, you tried to take the Christmas spirit away, but we’re a stronger community than that,’’ Sign said.

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call TPD at 321-264-7800 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
