Volusia detectives arrest 17-year-old after shooting in DeLand

Shooting happened at 321 E. Haven Road, investigators said

DeLAND, Fla. – One person was taken to the hospital after a shooting Friday night in DeLand, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, deputies took into custody 17-year-old Jacob Real in connection with the shooting of 26-year-old John Ambrogne, who was airlifted to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Deputies said Ambrogne is expected to survive.

Deputies said the shooting happened after 9 p.m. at 321 E. Haven Road and stemmed from an argument between Real and Ambrogne after they came home from work together.

Real was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor.
