Judge revokes bond for former WWE star Tamara Sytch in fatal crash case

Sytch was arrested May 6, released on bond next day

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A judge revoked the bond for former WWE star Tamara “Sunny” Sytch during a hearing Friday morning a week after her arrest in connection to a fatal crash in March.

The Ormond Beach crash led to the death of Julian LaFrancis Lasseter, 75.

Sytch, 49, was arrested on May 6 after Ormond Beach police said her blood-alcohol level was 0.280 — three and a half times over the legal limit — shortly after her car struck Lasseter’s at an intersection on U.S. Highway 1.

After Sytch was arrested at the Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach, she was released on bond the following afternoon, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Sytch was taken into custody again Friday morning after the judge granted a state motion for pretrial detention. Prosecutors had argued that Sytch was a danger to the community. She had three DUI convictions from 2015 and there is another pending case in New Jersey.

Assistant State Attorney Ashley Terwilleger said in court Friday that Sytch has “consistently” shown she is going to get behind the wheel of a vehicle while intoxicated.

“And not just have a low intoxication level,” said Terwilleger. “Each of the documents the court has, as well as the testimony of her today, is that we’re looking at almost 4 times the legal limit.”

Judge Karen Foxman agreed with the prosecution and granted their motion. She cited a pattern of arrests while explaining her decision-making.

“What’s more significant to this Court is that there’s an arrest out of January, an arrest out of February, related to alcohol. This happened in March, and then in May there’s a Marchman Act,” Foxman said.

Officer Richard Taylor with the Ormond Beach Police Department testified in court Friday that Sytch was found unresponsive in front of a bar on May 5, 2022.

“She could not provide information. She could not stand without assistance. She appeared intoxicated,” said Taylor while describing the encounter with Daytona Beach Police.

She faces charges of DUI causing death, causing death while operating a motor vehicle with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, four counts of DUI causing injury to a person and three counts of DUI causing damage to property, records show.
