DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Police in Daytona Beach say the suspect in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old killed the victim because he was worried he would be outed for his sexual preference.
Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young said that 19-year-old Jakari Webb shot Telan Mann on June 23. Officers responded near Forest Glen Boulevard and Oak Tree Circle where they found Mann fatally shot.

Young said the two were engaged in an online relationship, and that Webb met Mann and ended up shooting him because he was concerned that Mann was going to reveal his sexual preference.
Mann was openly gay, police say.
Webb is now facing first-degree murder charges and is currently being held without bond at Volusia County Jail. The state attorney’s office is looking into whether a hate crime charge should be added.
